Project ‘Development of STEAM Centre Activities’
The Kaunas Methodological STEAM Centre, a division of the Public Institution ‘Science and Innovation Promotions Centre’, together with its partners – the Lithuanian Agency for Non-Formal Education (LINEŠA), Vilnius University, Klaipėda University, Panevėžys Education Centre, Alytus College, Mykolas Romeris University, Telšiai Education Centre, Tauragė Teacher and Student Support Centre and Utena Education Centre – is implementing the project ‘Development of STEAM Centre Activities’, project code 10-016-P-0001. The project is funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU Recovery and Resilience Facility under Lithuania’s Recovery and Resilience Plan ‘Next Generation Lithuania’.
The objective of the project is to establish an effectively functioning network of STEAM centres. The main activity is to develop a competence development programme for students and teachers that supports the implementation of the STEAM education ecosystem. This ecosystem is based on networking among active open-access STEAM education centres, a strengthened network of STEAM schools, and empowered STEAM ambassadors (innovative teachers).
The development of STEAM centre activities is directly linked to the objective of the Development Programme’s progress measure – to create favourable learning conditions in all Lithuanians schools and help student unlock their potential and talents, enabling them to adapt as smoothly as possible to a changing environment and, at a later stage, to the labour market.
It is also essential to strengthen teacher’s preparedness to work in accordance with the updated national curricula by making use of the methodological support and infrastructure provided by STEAM centres.
